Alpha Zeta G Garganega

Alpha Zeta was started in 1999 when Liberty Wines set out to produce a range of modern, fruit driven wines from the hills outside Verona. Working with leading New Zealand winemaker, Matt Thomson, their aim was to work with growers (rather than buy bulk wine, which is standard among most wines from Verona at this price) to obtain ripe grapes (by reducing yields and picking later) and then, using Matt's expertise, preserve these flavours in the finished wines.

Feudi di San Gregoria Albente Falanghina

One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio has carved out a reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid-1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions, unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes (Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, Aglianico) and rediscovering less planted grapes such as Syrica.

This wine has a very light salmon hue.  The nose is a delicate blend of pear and apricot overlaid with lychee and lavender.  The palate shows flavours of pear and spices – nutmeg and cinnamon.  The slight sweetness is balanced by soft acidity.

Falconhead Hawkes Bay Pinot Gris

The fruit for this wine was sourced from two Hawkes Bay vineyards. About ¾ came from Kinross on the left bank of the Ngaruroro river and ¼ from Riverview on the right bank. The fruit was pressed in the producer's Riverview winery and the juice transported to their Katikati winery. At Katikati the juice was fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures to preserve the delicate aromatic character.

Alpha Zeta C Corvina

The vineyards are situated in the hills outside Verona in the Valpantena Valley. Cool currents blow down the valley from the foothills of the Dolomites, which helps to moderate the climate, enabling the grapes to ripen slowly. This helps the grapes to retain their aromatic compounds and acidity. The soil is poor and chalky so the vines are put under stress which helps to produce superior quality fruit.

This is a youthful bright ruby wine with fresh, vibrant aromas of ripe cherries and red berries. The palate is balanced and juicy with a supple structure, with plum and cinnamon flavours and a lively finish.
